La principal novedad del 71º Congreso Mundial de Fundición. Bilbao 2014 es su apuesta por involucrar en este evento a jóvenes investigadores, técnicos y doctorandos dándoles la oportunidad de jugar un papel activo.
El desarrollo tecnológico y el futuro de la industria de fundición recae en las nuevas generaciones y, basándose en esta premisa, el Comité Organizador y el Comité Científico han tomado la decisión de promover la participación de este colectivo ofreciéndoles la posibilidad de presentar el resultado de sus trabajos ante una audiencia internacional especializada. Además, con el objetivo de alentar su participación, se ha creado el Premio a la mejor comunicación en la categoría de “Jóvenes Investigadores” que lo otorgará un Comité Científico formado por expertos a nivel Internacional.
Los criterios para poder presentar una comunicación como “Joven Investigador” han sido establecidos por el Comité Científico y son los siguientes:
- Estudiantes que estén preparando el Doctorado o que estén cursando el primer año en el momento de la fecha límite de envío de abstracts.
- Investigadores que han defendido satisfactoriamente su primer doctorado en los últimos 5 años.
- Estudiantes de Máster relacionado con el sector metal mecánico en el momento de la fecha límite de envío de abstracts.
- Profesionales con menos de 5 años de experiencia que trabajan en la industria de fundición, centros de conocimiento, plataformas tecnológicas y universidades.
- En todos los casos anteriores, los candidatos deben ser menores de 35 años.
El proceso de presentación de los abstract será el mismo que para el resto de participantes aunque deberá indicarse en lugar visible que el interesado participa bajo la categoría de “Joven Investigador” y acreditar que cumple los requisitos anteriormente mencionados mediante documentación oficial del centro de estudios, universidad y/o empresa.
Al igual que en el resto de casos, deberán remitir su abstract a la asociación miembro de la WFO. El listado de países miembro de la WFO está disponible en la página web www.thewfo.com

¡Young researchers wanted!
The 71st World Foundry Congress will promote the participation of young researchers, technicians and PhD students from around the world, an offer the future generation of experts in the field the opportunity to assume an active role in this technical event.
Without the young, starting generation of foundry experts, there would be no further development of this important industry. Based on this premise, the Organising Committee and the Scientific Committee have taken the decision to boost the participation of this group offering them the opportunity to present the results of their work in this specialised international congress. With the aim of encouraging their participation, a special “Young Researcher award” has been designed.
The eligibility criteria have been stipulated by the Scientific Committee:
- All students preparing a PhD who are enrolled on their first PhD course at the time of the abstract submission deadline.
- Researchers who have successfully defended their first PhD and subsequently have up to five years` experience.
- Graduate students who are enrolled on Masters courses directly related to the metal-mechanic industry at the time of the abstract submission deadline.
- Professionals with less than five years` experience, who work in foundry companies, knowledge centres, technological platforms and universities, among others.
- In all of the above cases, candidates must be 35 years old or below.
The abstract submission process will be the same as for senior participants, although it must be indicated in a visible place that the researcher takes in the process in the «Young researcher» category and prove its condition by official documentation.
